What was the catalyst for the creation of Midtown Crossing?

Midtown Crossing was the first major project tied to Destination Midtown, an initiative of the Greater Omaha Chamber focused on transforming historic Midtown into a premier urban environment where people want to live, work, shop and play. At our core, it’s always been about community.

True to that aim, Midtown Crossing is fueling Midtown momentum through our vibrant blend of restaurants, retail and engaging community events as well as our support of Midtown Vision 2050, a strategy that reflects the extraordinary potential of midtown Omaha and guides its growth into a dynamic, transit-oriented urban community.

Beyond our 16-acres, widespread revitalization is quickly taking hold. Local developers have been buying and repositioning rundown apartments and other properties in the midtown neighborhood.

Thanks to the efforts and optimism of many, our midtown neighborhoods, including the nearby Blackstone District, are more vibrant and more secure. There is pride in homeownership, properties are being maintained, and absentee landlords are being bought out.
