Excitement is building for the debut of winter’s newest attraction – skating! The Rink on Farnam at Midtown Crossing, presented by The Salvation Army, opens to the public on Saturday, December 9.
Work crews, meantime, are busy finalizing the venue by transforming a parking lot west of Mutual of Omaha Bank. They have installed the 60’ x 80’ all-weather “synthetic ice” rink and surrounding turf. They are now in the process of building the skate rental shack and installing audio and lighting. The skates have been delivered. Fire features, seating and décor are on the way.
After its December 9, 2017 grand opening, The Rooftop Rink will remain open through February 25, 2018. Admission (including skate rental) is just $5. All proceeds benefit the important work of The Salvation Army.
Hours of operation:
Thursday - Friday: 4pm – 10pm
Saturday - Sunday: 1pm – 10pm
Monday - Wednesday: Closed to the public; available for private gatherings*

A true community effort, several organizations, including KETV, Werner Enterprises, COX Business, A-Relief Services and Heroes Holiday Lighting, have stepped forward with in-kind donations to help support the project. The Salvation Army is in need of volunteers to help fill multiple positions, including admission attendants, skate guards and rental attendants. Two-to-three-hour shifts are available. Those interested can sign-up online.
