As we find ourselves in the month of resolutions, we sat down the Andrew Montgomery, general manager of THE Athletic Club here in Midtown Crossing, to pick his brain about healthy living, resolutions and how The Athletic Club can help us reach our goals in the new year (and beyond!).
My name is Andrew Montgomery and I am the General Manager of THE Athletic Club in Midtown. I have been a part of the Midtown Crossing community for almost six years and am lucky enough to have been with our club during that entire time as well. My favorite part of working in the fitness industry is the people – YOU – Our Midtown Community! I have met countless people through the avenue of fitness and enjoy seeing everyone working towards a common goal of bettering themselves on a daily basis.
Tell us about what The Athletic Club offers and what makes it different from other fitness concepts.
What sets us apart from other fitness concepts is our dedication to providing our members the best pathway for overall success all while offering a safe and friendly atmosphere for all fitness levels. When you come into THE Athletic Club every guest is treated as a member and our focus is on your fitness needs and goals, not to simply sell you a membership. From our excellent group classes to the best Personal Training, we have what you need to get started on the better version of you today!
Right now is an exciting time for us at THE Athletic Club. With our recent re-branding, we are in the process of remodeling all of our clubs, with Midtown Crossing upgrades coming soon in 2020! Included in our upgrade will be the addition of Combo6ix, which is a great 33-minute total body workout. This new offering is the total experience with a coach-led workout combining boxing, kickboxing, strength training, core exercises and cardio all designed to deliver you results like no other.
Do you have any tips or tricks for sticking with New Year’s resolutions?
Don’t let the little things get in the way. Hold yourself accountable and make your health a priority and the rest will fall in place. Finding a friend or a trainer who you can work out with is great for accountability and will give you another reason to look forward to your workout!
What’s the one thing you wish everyone knew about living a healthy lifestyle?
Even though it may seem impossible sometimes, it can be easier than it sounds. The hardest part is building your routine but once you have that locked in, the rest is about being consistent and dedicated. Spending time around like-minded people who are trying to better themselves can help keep you focused, and there is no better place to do that then in a fitness club.
What’s your favorite healthy entrée from a Midtown Crossing restaurant?
Eating healthy is the biggest key to getting the desired look you are striving for.Admittedly I enjoy my food, and the best way to go about your diet is with balance. When I am looking for a healthy meal in Midtown Crossing, my go to is the Rosemary Grilled Chicken from Black Oak Grill but don’t be surprised if you catch me eating Leadbelly’s Mac & Cheese either!
What’s the best book you’ve read recently?
A great fitness related book I recently read is The Fitness Mindset, by Brian Keane. This book focuses on the mindset it takes to commit to a healthy lifestyle and the steps you can take to ensure you will stick with your goals and make fitness a habit.
