Midtown Crossing is elevating its entertainment profile with the addition of a distinguished new anchor tenant, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, the nationally-renowned dine-in theater heralded by Entertainment Weekly as “the best theater in America.”
"We’ve worked extremely hard over the past two and a half years to create the best cinematic experience for the Omaha community with everything from our sound and presentation all the way down to the popcorn,” said Derek Dillon, Alamo Drafthouse Omaha Creative Manager. "We’re excited to further expand our Omaha footprint by providing Midtown Crossing and Omaha’s urban core with our unique Alamo Drafthouse experience.”
In addition to screening a diverse range of films – from the latest blockbusters to classic cinema – Alamo Drafthouse offers in-seat dining and a full, multi-course menu: burgers, pizzas, salads, snacks and desserts prepared fresh from locally-sourced ingredients. Beers from local craft breweries are also highlighted and promoted, and all orders are served by wait staff trained to be inconspicuous.
“We’re always looking for that energy, that perfect fit for the neighborhood. Alamo Drafthouse encompasses the mix we know Midtown Crossing guests are looking for – exceptional service, delicious food and unique experiences. It’s a match made in midtown,” said Jami Heidemann, First Vice President with CBRE|MEGA and Midtown Crossing’s commercial leasing agent.
Based in Austin, TX, Alamo Drafthouse has locations throughout the country, including a second metro-area theater in La Vista. The Midtown Crossing opening is slated for 2018 and will occupy the space currently leased by Marcus Midtown Cinema, which will close their doors at 8am on May 14, 2018.
“As we welcome Alamo Drafthouse Cinema as a key tenant at Midtown Crossing, we want to thank Marcus Theatres Corporation for being a great pioneering partner in Midtown Crossing. Marcus Theatres took on managing our cinema for us in 2009, providing an important entertainment amenity for the new neighborhood we were establishing. Those efforts were instrumental in proving the viability of our cinema. As an organization, East Campus Realty is now evolving away from the theatre business to become a landlord. With this change, Alamo will become the tenant going forward.” said Molly Skold, Midtown Crossing’s vice-president of marketing and communications.
Why we’re excited about Alamo Drafthouse
Community involvement is also a company staple. Alamo Drafthouse supports organizations making a positive difference in their local communities and serves as presenting sponsor for Midtown Crossing’s free community series Monday Night at the Movies.
