Smokin' Oak Wood-Fired Pizza & Taproom is meeting a popular demand for more pizza options in midtown Omaha.
“This is a unique concept for Midtown Crossing and Omaha,” said Franchise Partner Maribeth Yaksich. “We’ll roast all of our meats in the wood-fired oven, chop all of our vegetables, make our own dough, and we’ll have scratch-made sauces. We’re going to be so fresh, we won’t even have a freezer!”
The individual artisan pizzas will be cooked at temperatures around 900 degrees in a wood-fired oven fueled by 12-month aged oak wood, “providing our guests a unique flavor profile they will not find with any other pizza restaurant,” Yaksich said. “We believe that you’ve never enjoyed a pizza like a Smokin’ Oak pizza.”
To complement their unique pizzas, which will include both vegan and gluten-free options, Smokin' Oak Wood-Fired Pizza & Taproom will feature iPourIt’s self-serve beverage dispensing technology, offering 40+ beers on tap and a variety of wines, ciders, seltzers and mixed drinks.
“Our goal is to have something for everybody,” Yaksich said. “We will also be providing some craft non-alcoholic beverages (including teas and lemonades), which we’re excited to introduce to the community.”
Adult guests, equipped with a dedicated RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) wristband or card they get at the restaurant, will be able purchase an entire glass or a couple ounce sampler from the iPourIt system.
Yaksich said Smokin' Oak Wood-Fired Pizza & Taproom is shooting for an opening as early as May. It will occupy much of the former Della Costa space at 220 S 31st Ave., which includes an expansive outdoor patio facing Turner Park.
“We feel extremely thankful for this amazing space. It offers a spacious atmosphere, tremendous views, good parking and plenty of room to enjoy both food and beverage. This is a new and very different experience from most restaurants, and we believe it fits well into the many amazing businesses at Midtown Crossing,” Yaksich said.
Smokin' Oak Wood-Fired Pizza & Taproom is a fast-growing, emerging fast-casual pizza franchise with several locations opening across the U.S. in 2020. Matt Mongoven, CEO of the franchise, said, “We are incredibly excited to be coming to Omaha this Spring, and especially excited to be opening in such a vibrant, exciting area as Midtown Crossing. The Taproom concept will pair well with our pizza and other menu items, and we’re excited to be working with Dan and the other Franchise partners.”
