Awhile back, I received a gift certificate from Midtown Crossing to use at Tru Salon and Spa. I had never been before, so I was quite excited to try it out! The only trouble I had was deciding which service to choose.

Turducken a must try!
Date Posted: 12.15.2011
Midtown Crossing Blogger

I come from a food family. We love to cook, we love to dine in restaurants, we love to watch the Food Network, we even love to talk about food.

We’re always eager to try the newest food trends (Chocolate covered bacon? Oyster shooters? Spicy ice cream? Sign us up!), so it was no surprise that my family practically tripped over themselves when I asked them to try one of Wohlner’s turduckens!

Magic at Midtown – Girls Night Out
Date Posted: 12.02.2011
Midtown Crossing Blogger
My mom and sisters love a good Girls Night Out. No matter how busy we are, we make it a point to set aside some time to get together, just the 4 of us. Sometimes we need a good laugh at the movies, other times we hash out life’s curveballs over a glass of wine, and once in awhile we do something completely new – like a jewelry making class!

I watch a lot of HGTV. Like A LOT, a lot. In my mind, I’m on a first name basis with Genevieve, Vern, Candice, and David. So when I was invited to attend the Meet The Designers reception for Magic at Midtown, I jumped at the chance!

Magic at Midtown is a design tour of upscale urban residences at Midtown Crossing featuring the area’s finest interior designers. These amazing spaces will be opened to the public Monday through Sunday, November 17 to December 4 from 11 am to 7 pm.

I hate to complain about the weather, but SERIOUSLY?! How am I supposed to run in this?! It’s no fun to be drenched in sweat before you even begin your workout. I suppose it may be time to invest in a gym membership.

Severe Weather Procedures for Condo Owners

With the storms that we’ve been experiencing lately comes the reminder that we need to have a severe weather action plan. I overheard someone wondering what you do during a tornado warning if you live in the Midtown Crossing condos or apartments, and I realized that I wasn’t quite sure either!

Kili is My Casa 5.8k Race at Midtown Crossing
Date Posted: 06.28.2011
Midtown Crossing Blogger
I love to run. And maybe even more, I love to race!

Over the past few years, I have run in over 20 races of distances varying from 5Ks to marathons. But on July 16th, I will be competing in a race of a new distance…5.8K!

Why 5.8K? Well, that is the height of Mt. Kilimanjaro. John MacKenzie, founder of the 5.8K Run to Benefit CASA, has a strong connection with Mt. Kilimanjaro. Not only did he climb it in 2010 to celebrate his 50th birthday (my kind of party!) but also to raise money and awareness for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children.)

Father's Day Recipes!

My Dad loves to cook. He makes everything from fresh homemade pasta, to delicious hollandaise, to homemade peach ice cream. But he’s definitely most known for his master grilling skills.

And although Father’s Day is for spoiling the dads in your life, mine would consider being able to grill for his family a privilege. We are so lucky!

Gardening in small spaces

I could go the rest of my life without eating another tasteless, mealy, winter tomato. Bright red, juicy tomatoes are arguably one of the best things about summer. And nothing tastes quite as good as one picked from your own garden, am I right?!

Welcome to the Neighborhood!
Date Posted: 05.27.2011
Midtown Crossing Blogger
I’ll admit, when the businesses at Midtown Crossing started opening, I was most excited about the movie theater and the restaurants. The fact that I’d have several options for happy hour just steps from my office doors didn’t hurt, either! Of course, entertainment gets all of the glory.

Alas, there is more to life than fun and games. At the end of the day, groceries need to be purchased, appointments need to be made, and laundry needs to be done. Luckily for Midtown Crossing residents, their neighbors, and those that work nearby, these needs can all be met within a few blocks of each other.

Can you believe it’s almost Memorial Day?! This month (along with the rest of 2011) seems to have flown by. But at least May ends with a long weekend!

Our plans for the long weekend include soaking up the lovely spring weather with a BBQ! We picked up some homemade sausages from Wohlner’s earlier this week and I am anxious to try them out on the grill.

Money Saving Deals at Marcus Cinema

When I lived in New York, I remember being appalled by the price of movie tickets (nearly $15!) Although things aren’t as bad here, I still love finding ways to save. With a little research, I discovered a plethora of deals right here at Marcus Midtown Cinema! And I’m not talking about sneaking in your own snacks, sticking around for a “complimentary” double feature, or using a fake ID to get the senior rates. No, no, these savings are all completely legit.

Cantina PatioIt’s Friday. Work is done for the week. And it’s a lovely evening. What does this call for? Happy hour, of course!

I texted my friend Laura to see if she’d like to meet up. After perusing the happy hour specials around work, we decided on Cantina Laredo. As she put it, “You can’t go wrong with margaritas!” So true.

Spring is Back!
Date Posted: 04.20.2011
Midtown Crossing Blogger

Saturday afternoon. Something is definitely different. Wonderful. Couples stroll hand-in-hand. No bulky layers. No rush to escape the bitter cold. Leisurely is the pace today. A bit of shopping. A bite to eat. Just being (breathing in, breathing out) on a park bench. Two scoops of ice cream. Taking it all in. An out-of-towner zips by on a bicycle (a loaner from the Element Hotel). A dog frolics in the fast greening grass, a seven-acre playground in a blossoming Turner Park. The sparkle of the sun. A warm, welcoming breeze. Together, they issue their annual proclamation – “Being 'out' is 'in' again. Spring is back!”

condominiumWe've never been shy about unleashing the adjectives when it comes to Midtown Crossing. We've called it bold, progressive, unprecedented – and we've backed that up. But, what really excites us is when people call Midtown Crossing something else all-together; when they call it home.

2010 was the busiest and “banner-est” of years for us. We celebrated the grand opening of Omaha's boldest and most progressive urban development, welcomed more than a dozen individual restaurants and retailers to the “family” and saw our condominiums (and Turner Park) come to life!
