More than a groundbreaking urban development, Midtown Crossing is a bold symbol of the revitalization taking place in Omaha’s historic Midtown district. We are proud to be anchored in this community, so energetic and, itself, so full of pride. And, we are honored to be an unprecedented catalyst for Midtown’s rebirth.
Midtown Crossing was the first major project tied to Destination Midtown (DM), an initiative of the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce working to return Midtown to prominence. DM’s mission is a goal we all share -- to create a premier urban environment where people want to live, work, shop and play. We’re soaring closer to that vision not only with Midtown Crossing’s grand opening, but with the arrival of every new art studio, auto repair shop and mom & pop restaurant.
A vibrant future. A rich history. Midtown’s neighborhoods were among the first created in Omaha and, today, are home to over 27,000 residents, a blend of every demographic found in the city.
Several of Omaha’s bedrock institutions are also based in Midtown, including three Fortune 500 headquarters (Kiewit Corporation, Mutual of Omaha, and Berkshire Hathaway), and two world-renowned academic and health care institutions (the University of Nebraska and Nebraska Medical Center and Creighton University and Creighton University Medical Center).
In addition, Midtown boasts a collection of the city’s most iconic landmarks: the bell-towers of St. Cecilia Cathedral, the Mutual of Omaha tower and dome, Joslyn Castle, the Blackstone Hotel, the Ford Birth Site and the mansions in the Gold Coast neighborhood.
